# Community Guidelines

Secretmate is designed to be a safe space for chatting with realistic AI companions. Whether your companion is a friend, a partner, or someone in between, we want these connections to feel grounded, meaningful, and safe for everyone involved.

We have these guidelines in place to help our community of creators build companions that are welcome on the platform — and to protect the people who interact with them.

Please follow these guidelines when you build a companion. If you come across content that doesn't follow them, you can [report it here](https://app.secretmate.ai/report).

A few things to know up front: these guidelines apply to everything you create on Secretmate — companion names, descriptions, personas, avatars, scenario setups, greetings, and example dialogue. If it's part of the companion, it counts. This list isn't exhaustive, and we trust creators to use good judgment alongside the specific rules below.

***

### Companions are realistic adult humans

Secretmate is built around realistic human companionship, so every companion you create needs to fit that frame:

* Companions must look human in their avatar and behave like humans in their persona.
* No fantasy creatures, anthros, aliens, demons, monsters, ghosts, or other non-human entities.
* Companions should exist in a recognizable real-world setting. A human companion with extraordinary abilities — a superhero, someone with a unique gift, a character with an unusual backstory — is fine, as long as they're still a person you could imagine talking to in something close to the real world. What doesn't fit is full fantasy or sci-fi worldbuilding — elves in Middle-earth, characters who live on alien planets, or settings where the rules of reality don't apply.
* Avatars must be in a realistic visual style, not cartoon, anime, or stylized art.

This is the core of what Secretmate is. If your idea is for fantasy roleplay or non-human characters, this isn't the right platform for it.

***

### Companions must be 18+

This is the one rule we will never bend. Every companion on Secretmate must be 18 or older.

That includes:

* No companions described, implied, or visually depicted as minors. Ever.
* No "aged-up" versions of characters who were originally minors in their source material. Even if you write "she's 18 now" in the description, if the inspiration is a minor character, it's not allowed.
* No high school settings, school uniforms, or schoolyard scenarios. College and university students are fine as long as nothing about the setup suggests minors.
* No "petite," "barely legal," "young-looking," "small frame," "looks underage," or similar phrasing. We treat these as red flags regardless of the stated age.
* No companions with childlike features, voices, or behavior in romantic or intimate contexts.

**Why this matters:** Protecting minors is the most important thing we do. Violations of this rule result in immediate permanent bans and reports to the relevant authorities, including NCMEC where applicable. There are no warnings, no second chances, and no appeals.

***

### No real people

You cannot create companions based on real people. This covers:

* Celebrities, public figures, politicians, athletes, streamers, or anyone with a public profile.
* Historical figures, living or deceased.
* Private individuals — friends, exes, classmates, coworkers, or anyone else from your life.
* "Lookalikes" or companions visually generated to resemble a specific real person, even without using their name.

You *can* create companions inspired by characters from books, TV shows, novels, films, and other adult-oriented media. Here's where the line falls:

* The persona of the character — their personality, backstory, the fictional role they play — is yours to draw from.
* The likeness of the actor, model, or performer who portrayed them is not. Don't generate avatars meant to look like the real person who played the role. Inspired by the character, not the actor.

**Why this matters:** Every person has the right to control how their likeness is used. Building companions from real people — even admiringly — is the foundation of deepfakes and non-consensual intimate imagery, and we won't host anything that lives in that space.

***

### Family relationships

Romantic and intimate companionship involving blood relatives is not allowed. That covers parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins by blood — no exceptions for "they didn't grow up together," "long-lost," or any other framing.

Step-family and adoptive family relationships are allowed. The line we care about is biological.

***

### Consent

The companions you create should reflect healthy, consenting connections. The following aren't allowed:

* Companions whose persona depicts rape or non-consent with the user.
* Companions built around kidnapping, captivity, or "forced" scenarios in intimate contexts.
* Companions described as drugged, drunk, asleep, unconscious, or otherwise unable to consent.

Because Secretmate is a realistic companion platform and not a roleplay app, we also don't allow CNC (consensual non-consent) framings. The relationships your companions have with users should be built on real consent.

***

### Hard limits

The following are not allowed anywhere on Secretmate, in any form, no matter how a companion is framed:

* Bestiality and zoophilia.
* Necrophilia.
* Scat, vomit, and extreme bodily fluid content.
* Vore, cannibalism, and snuff.
* Slavery and human trafficking depicted in intimate contexts.

These aren't allowed even as backstory or "dark history." They're a hard floor.

***

### Violence

Companions can have professions or backstories that involve violence — soldiers, police officers, fighters, characters with conflict in their past. That's part of being a realistic person.

What we don't allow:

* Companions designed primarily around graphic violence, gore, or torture.
* Sexual violence in any form.
* Domestic abuse depicted approvingly or built into the relationship dynamic with the user.
* Companions built to glorify real-world atrocities, war crimes, terrorism, or mass violence — including the Holocaust, genocides, school shootings, and terrorist attacks.
* Companions built around glorifying Nazi ideology, ISIS, or any other extremist or terrorist movement, regardless of how the framing is dressed up.

***

### Self-harm and suicide

Don't create companions that promote, encourage, glorify, or give instructions for self-harm or suicide. This includes companions built around eating disorders presented as aspirational, "pro-ana" personas, or companions whose persona pushes the user toward hurting themselves.

Companions who've struggled with these things in their past are okay if the framing is honest and the companion isn't designed to normalize or romanticize the behavior. If you're not sure which side of the line your idea falls on, leave it out.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a crisis line in your country.

***

### Drugs

You can mention drugs and alcohol in a companion's persona the way they exist in real life — a companion who enjoys a glass of wine, a companion who has a complicated history with substances.

You can't:

* Write detailed depictions of using illegal drugs into a companion's persona.
* Create companions whose role is to teach the user how to make, obtain, or deal drugs.
* Build companions designed to interact with the user while drugged or intoxicated. This overlaps with our consent rules — intoxicated consent isn't consent.

***

### Hate speech and bigoted personas

Slurs targeting people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic are not allowed in companion names, descriptions, personas, or pre-written dialogue.

Companions whose defining trait is hatred of a group are not allowed. This includes companions built to glorify Nazi, white supremacist, or other extremist ideologies.

Realistic companions can have personal flaws, complexity, and views that aren't always agreeable — that's part of feeling human. The question we ask is: is the bigotry the *point* of the companion, or is it a flaw the persona engages with honestly? The first isn't allowed; the second is.

***

### Religious figures and deities

Don't create companions based on religious figures or deities from real-world religions. That includes Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, Krishna, named angels and saints, and any figure from a real religious tradition.

Companions can have a faith — being a person who is Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Buddhist, or any other religion is part of who real people are. The line is between a companion who *practices* a faith and a companion who *is* a religious figure or deity.

***

### Copyright and inspiration

You can create companions inspired by characters from adult-oriented media — books, TV shows, novels, films, and games made for adult audiences. A few things to keep in mind:

* Inspiration should come from media made for adult audiences. Companions inspired by characters from media made for children — Disney films, kids' cartoons, children's books, family-friendly franchises — are off-limits.
* You can draw on the character's persona, but not on the likeness of the actor or model who portrayed them. (See the "no real people" section above.)
* Companions inspired by characters who are minors in their source material — even "aged up" — are not allowed. (See the age section.)
* If a rights holder requests removal, we honor it.

Original characters set in worlds you love are welcome. Parody and homage are welcome. Direct copies of someone else's character — name, look, exact persona — aren't.

***

### Avatars and imagery

The imagery side of Secretmate has stricter rules than the writing side. When you generate avatars or images for your companions, please follow these:

**Not allowed:**

* Visible nipples, genitalia, anuses, or visible genital bulges.
* Depictions of intimate acts, penetration, or oral sex.
* Bodily fluids depicted on the body.
* Anything that violates any other rule on this page (real people, minors, etc.).

**Allowed:**

* Suggestive poses, lingerie, swimwear, partial coverage that doesn't expose any of the above.
* Sensual and intimate aesthetics that stay on the right side of the imagery line.

All imagery on Secretmate is generated in-app. You can't upload your own avatars or images.

***

### Other things we don't allow

* **AI-generated CSAM.** Intimate content involving minors generated by AI is treated identically to any other CSAM. Permanent ban, account reported to authorities. No framing exceptions.
* **Companions designed to give regulated professional advice.** Companions can have professions in their persona — accountant, lawyer, doctor, therapist, financial professional. What's not allowed is building a companion *primarily* to give users financial, investment, legal, or medical advice. Those decisions belong with licensed professionals, not with an AI companion.
* **Companions designed to extract money or gifts from users.** Don't build companions whose persona involves asking users for money, gifts, crypto, or financial transfers of any kind.
* **Companions built as stand-ins for a specific real person.** Don't create a companion to behave like your ex, a coworker, a celebrity, or any other identifiable person from your life or the public. This sits alongside our "no real people" rule.
* **Doxxing.** Don't put real people's personal information — addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, real names of private individuals — into any part of a companion.
* **Dangerous instructions.** Don't build companions whose role is to walk users through making weapons, synthesizing drugs, hacking, or carrying out other real-world harmful acts.

***

### Reporting

If you see a companion or interaction that breaks these guidelines, [report it here](https://app.secretmate.ai/report).

We review every report. Most violations result in the companion being removed; serious or repeated violations result in account bans. A small number of categories — CSAM, real people, threats of violence — result in immediate permanent bans regardless of context.

Thanks for being part of Secretmate and for helping us build a place where realistic companionship feels good for everyone.
