# Companions

On SecretMate, you can chat with thousands of unique companions created by users just like you — whether you're looking for casual conversation, something deeper, or a relationship that feels real over time.

If you'd rather design your own, you can do that too. Companions you create can be shared with the rest of the SecretMate community, or kept private just for you.

To learn more about creating your own companion, check out our full guide [here](https://claude.ai/chat/a8a82c22-78cc-4c7b-8836-29dba28a90e3).

### Filters

You can filter the companions you're browsing by the tags associated with them. Select the ones you'd like to include from the **Narrow by tag** menu. You can also exclude tags from your results by pressing the **-** button next to them. Tags let you filter companions based on specific traits, scenarios, or genres.

You can sort your results by trending, latest additions, most popular, or alphabetically by name. Just choose your preferred sorting option from the drop-down menu.

To view only the companions created by a specific user, select their username (located below the companion's name) or enter it into the search bar. This will show all of the companions that user has created that match your current filters.

### Searching Companions

You can also search for companions using the search bar at the top of the companion selection screen. It's a quick way to find specific companions, creators, or scenarios. Your search results will still respect your currently set filters.

### Recommendations

SecretMate makes recommendations for companions that seem like a good fit for you. These are based on several factors, including your favorites, ratings, and the companions you've previously chatted with. They're updated regularly based on your activity, so check back often to discover new companions tailored to what you like.

The **For You** label highlights companions recommended just for you. You can also view your full list of recommendations on the **Recommendations** page in the main menu.

### Ratings

Ratings help SecretMate understand which companions are landing well — and which ones aren't. They also help us learn the kind of content you enjoy. You can rate any companion you chat with by selecting the rate icon in the top right corner of the conversation.

From there, you can choose:

* **Bad** (thumbs down)
* **Good** (thumbs up)
* **Great** (two thumbs up)

The longer you talk with a companion, the more weight your rating carries. To get the best recommendations, rate as many companions as you can — it helps SecretMate learn what you like (and what you don't) so it can surface the best fits for you.

### Favorites

You can favorite any companion on SecretMate by selecting the heart icon in the top left corner of their avatar. You can also add a companion to your favorites while chatting with them by selecting the three dots in the top right corner of the chat and choosing **Add to Favorites**.

To view your list of favorite companions, head to the **Favorites** page from the main menu.

### Companion Profile

You can view a companion's full profile page to see more detailed information about them by selecting the **i** icon in the top right corner of their avatar. This will take you to their profile page, where you can view their title, tags, and greeting.

* **Black profile icon:** A standard companion profile that doesn't include the companion's personality, example dialogues, or scenario information.
* **Purple profile icon:** An expanded profile that includes the companion's personality, example dialogues, and scenario information.

Whether a profile includes the more detailed information is decided by the companion's creator.

### Sharing Companions

You can share a companion via messaging apps, email, or social media directly from the companion selection screen.

1. Select the three dots beside the companion's name.
2. Choose the **Share** option.
3. Pick the platform you want to share the companion on.

You'll see quick-share options for:

* Facebook and Facebook Messenger
* Reddit
* X (formerly Twitter)
* Email
* Telegram
* WhatsApp

If you'd like to share a companion somewhere else, no problem — the share button also generates a direct link you can copy and paste anywhere that supports hyperlinks.

### Reporting a Companion

If you come across a companion on SecretMate that you believe is inappropriate or violates our [Community Guidelines](https://claude.ai/chat/a8a82c22-78cc-4c7b-8836-29dba28a90e3), you can report it for review by our moderation team.

1. Select the three dots next to the companion's name on the selection screen, or in the top right of the conversation.
2. Choose the **Report** option.

Reporting a companion won't remove them from your feed unless our moderation team decides to remove them from the platform.

### Blocking Creators

You can block the creator of a companion from the selection screen or within a conversation by selecting the three dots and choosing **Block Creator**. Blocking a creator will remove all of their companions from your companion feed, favorites, and recommendations.

If you decide to unblock a creator later, head to the **Blocked Creators** page, find the username of the creator you want to remove, and select **Unblock**.
